Considering the approximate
amount of the needed energy in a industrial unit to produce the intended output,
the optimization of energy use and the augmentation of the consumption quality level
begin with a decrease of energy loss and then continue with an improvement of the
process, load and energy management, an increase in equipment efficiency and with
the modification of the equipment or with its exchange, an increase in warmth retrieving
and recycling of the lost energy and so on. Energy auditing is the beginning point
for achieving an optimal situation in energy consumption in an industrial unit.
Energy auditing is a general expression in industry which –depending on the services
offered- could include different concepts in it. However, generally speaking, it
indicates a set of activities done in an industrial unit which lead to the determination
of the qualitative or quantitative condition of energy consumption in each unit
and to the suggestion of methods of increasing the current situation. Depending
on the intended
methods
for energy auditing, following main aims are considered
in projects:
-
Recognition
of the amounts and the way of energy consumption and determination of the co efficiency
of energy use intensity (examining the system)
-
Proposing
measures for reducing the amount and the intensity of energy consumption (healing
the system)
-
Preparing
the activities of energy group in unit to study and to control the condition
of energy consumption
Considering different
parameters and the current determining situation, it is clear that achieving these
aims in each industrial unit demands a comprehensive understanding of the unit and
its own studies. A sufficient understanding of the audit -from the process and the
method of producing the output and the recognition of key points and extravagant
consumption in the production process- will lead to the fact that the audit can
achieve the determined goals in an easier, faster and more comprehensive way. The
exact determination of the consumption conditions is achieved through doing field
activities and presence in the unit and the implementation of the program in the
appropriate time conditions and a comprehensive knowledge of the different capacities
of measuring machinery. Recognition and determination of the efficiency grade of
energy saving capacities also demands a comprehensive knowledge of process conditions,
a correct understanding of current situations and present potentials and determination
of reciprocal influences of the proposed changes in the working situation.
